Stanley Leon Bachman  (June 02, 1930 - May 11, 2021)
Stanley Leon Bachman, 90, of Alvin, Texas went to be with his Lord & Savior on Tuesday, May 11, 2021.  Stan was born on June 2, 1930, in Lewistown, Pennsylvania, and was a resident of Alvin since 1964.
Stan graduated from Lewistown High School in 1948, Mercersburg Academy in 1949, the United States Naval Academy in 1953, and was assigned to the U.S. Air Force.  He married the love of his life in 1954 and raised six children, moving from Elizabethtown, PA to Johnson Air Base in Japan, to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH, and onto Alvin, where he was employed by NASA from 1964 to 1983.  There he specialized in Navigation, Guidance, and Control for many space missions.
Stan enjoyed RV camping and coaching his son Chris’ Special Olympic sports activities, but found the most pleasure in serving his Lord Jesus.  He taught Sunday School, led praise & worship, volunteered in both prison & nursing home ministry, and was active in the Space Center Chapter of Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship International for many years.  He never wasted an opportunity to witness to others and tell them about his wonderful friend and Savior, Jesus.  To him, all encounters were divinely orchestrated, such as the time he sat next to a young Cassius Clay on a flight to California.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Phares and Bertha (Brower) Bachman; his wife, Doris (Rupp) Bachman; his son, Stanley Bachman II, and his brothers, James Richard Bachman, Wynnewood Bachman and Phares Bachman, Jr.
He is survived by his daughters, Diane Bachman, Carol Petitt (Paul) and Kimberly Taylor (Tracy); sons, Michael Bachman (Edwina), and Christopher Bachman; sisters, Arlene Thompson and Linda Green; 7 grandchildren, Lindsey Vasquez (Joe), Shaun Petitt, Cory Taylor (Cydney), Brandon Taylor (Amy), Ty Taylor (Tessa), Christopher Bachman, and Caleb Bachman; 8 great grandchildren, Pierson Bachman, Aiden Petitt, Braeden Petitt, Mila Petitt, Avryl Petitt, Ayashe Bachman, Caydence Taylor, Emerson Taylor, and Blaze Taylor; along with many beloved friends and relatives.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.
